Sunday

So, here we are in Santa Clara after what turned out to be a pretty good flight. I got a seat with no-one behind or in front of me, so I could recline without guilt and didn't have anyone reclining on to me. The entertainment on Virgin flights is excellent now. Saw Descent (Scary!) and The Island (Sci Fi-ee). You can choose the movie or game/radio and telly at any time you want, and you can pause it too. Once we landed (and Theran got grilled at customs because he's non-white) we got a rental car, and GPS! Sorted. We drove into San Francisco, and over the Golden Gate Bridge. Stopped there for a while and took some pictures:

As you can see, the view was pretty amazing.
After we'd done the photo op, we went back over the bidge and on to Fisherman's Warf, because I'd heard that it was very attractive.

Well, it turns out it's attractive if you happen to like tacky seaside style shops selling the American equivalent of kiss me quick hats and postcards with punks on. Not impressed.
There was a single little row of shops that redeemed it though : what looks to be authentic street vendors of the seafood that comes in to the warf. I had a clam chowder in a little loaf of bread, just like I've had in Boston before. Very nice! Theran had chips. Just like he'd had in London one time. I'm beginning to suspect that he's a bit of a fussy eater! Trip was slightly redeemed because I managed to get a DS for Wills (Teal colour, with Nintendogs included!) and a copy of Nintendogs for Ollie. The coloured DS is not available at all in the UK and Nintendogs is damned hard to find over there.

Off to bed now - it's just gone 9pm here, but I've not slept since...well, 2 days ago at least.

Tara for now.
